Formulation of Training Strategy for Government of the Punjab

Previously there was no Training Strategy in Punjab Government. In the year 2009, first ever Training Strategy was formulated and issued by MPDD after approval of Chief Minister. Main features of the Strategy are as under:

  • Training has been linked with promotion to next scale. MPDD is vigorously pursuing it with departments. As a result many departments have amended their rules to prescribe training for promotion and post induction stage.
  • Allocation of Rs.100 million for training. Under training strategy Government of the Punjab Finance Department has allocated funds to the tune of Rs.100 million for conduct of training for public servants. Now departments are approaching MPDD for training of officers and expenditure are being met out of this Rs.100 million allocation.
  • MPDD assist to design its training requirement.
  • Mandatory Milestone Training for officers for Promotion and Post Induction Stage.  
  • Mandatory Training for Staff in BS-5 to BS-15.
  • On the Job Training.
  • Training Needs Assessment & Job Descriptions.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Coordination of training activities.
  • Development of Training Institutions in the Punjab.
  • Formulation of Training Related Regulations by departments.
